Are Horseshoe Crabs really crabs?

They look more like some prehistoric underwater spider monster...but beneath a crunchy outside the horseshoe crab sports a peanut buttery inside. Mmmm!

It was a crabby day on the beach when dozens of creepy horseshoe crabs washed up on the sand. I guess that's what happens after a full moon and the horseshoe crab mating frenzy ends. Anyone for horseshoe crab dip?

What washes up on the beach dead in Deleware better stay in Deleware.

Did you know Deleware's coast was home to one of the largest populations of horseshoe crabs in the world? And you are correct that the full moon (high tide) in June was indeed prime spawning time for these critters.
